Can Men Get a Positive Pregnancy Test? Yes — and It's Worth Taking Seriously

Why a man can trigger a pregnancy test

The test detects hCG, full stop — the antibody sandwich doesn't ask who supplied the sample. Healthy men carry near-zero hCG (typically <2 mIU/ml, far under any strip's threshold). A genuine colored line in a man means something is producing hCG, and the notable producer is germ cell tumors — including some testicular cancers — which secrete hCG as a tumor marker.
