Faint Line on a Pregmate Test: What Bulk-Strip Faints Look Like
Pregmate strips are a staple of ovulation-and-pregnancy combo kits. Their sensitivity, how their faints compare to other strip brands, and a clean reading routine for combo-kit testers.
Pregmate earned its place on the bulk-testing shelf through combo kits — LH strips for the front half of the cycle, hCG strips for the wait — making it many people's first serial-testing brand. Its pregnancy strips read like classic pink-dye cheapies, with a few habits of their own.
Sensitivity and expectations
Pregmate pregnancy strips are commonly specified at ~25 mIU/ml. Calibrate accordingly: reliable from the missed period, reasonable from 11–12 DPO with concentrated urine, and structurally late to the 9–10 DPO whisper party that 10 mIU tests attend. A blank Pregmate at 10 DPO is expected physics, not an answer — the false-negative hierarchy starts with exactly this mismatch.
How Pregmate faints present
Typical strip behavior (formats guide): narrow lines, gradual onset of visibility, and true faints that photograph better than they view. Community reports occasionally mention faint gray shadowing at the test position — the standard indent phenomenon — and, as with all strips, dye-run streaks if flooded. Pink within the window is the entire criterion.
The combo-kit trap
Combo kits create one uniquely Pregmate-flavored error: grabbing the wrong strip type. LH and hCG strips look near-identical out of foil. An LH strip dipped in the fertile window happily shows two lines (LH is always present at some level) — reading one as a pregnancy test manufactures a spectacular false positive.
